TEXATA 2014 comes to a climax next weekend, from November 21-23, with the world’s Top 12 data scientists battling it out in Austin, TX to be crowned the inaugural Big Data Analytics World Champion.
The TEXATA Finals are a three-day festival with most of the activities and festivities occurring around the University of Texas at Austin and AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center.
Friday November 21:
Finals weekend begins with the Friday Innovation Evening at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC), from 6.00-8.30pm. Big data industry leaders from across Texas and the US will share ideas, real-world case studies and future trends in a free-flowing session. This public event is a valuable chance to network with influencers and thought leaders in big data analytics.
Saturday November 22:
Austin Field Trip
The 12 Finalists will embark on a Field Trip around Austin, receiving intimate tours around the IBM, National Instruments and TACC Supercomputing Centers. For the Finalists this will be a unique experience, being able to go behind the scenes of some incredible tech hubs. TEXATA Finalists will also be part of a Microsoft Innovation Session on the Saturday afternoon.
Sunday November 23:
The competition will heat up early on Sunday morning when our Finalists face four gruelling hours of testing at CISCO’s offices. In this challenge, Finalists will need to develop a solution to a real-world case study. Each Finalist will also face a final interview with the TEXATA Judges. The panel, consisting of Parminder Kocher (Cisco), Lee Gregory (KPMG), Bart Lauwers (NTT Data Corporation), Don Hilborn (Hortonworks) and Mark Majernik (K&M Systems), will grill Finalists on various elements of their proposed solution.
Live Finals Awards Ceremony & Networking
The TEXATA Awards Ceremony will commence at 3.00pm at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center. Tickets are free and available to the public at www.texata.com/livefinals. The Finals will include several keynote speeches from big data industry leaders at KPMG, IBM and Hortonworks; a LIVE Challenge for the 12 World Finalists, plus the presentation of awards and announcement of the TEXATA 2014 Champion. Official Celebration Drinks will be held following the Awards Ceremony at Gabriel’s Bar, also located at the AT&T Center. Anyone with an interest in Technology, Innovation and Big Data Analytics is welcome to attend.
